Hey, hey guys! That's right, I'm opening a new contest here on me little page, hoping some of you might be interested in being part of it. As the title suggests, it's a Zelda-related contest.



Its been a while since Twilight Princess came out and I'm sure many Zelda fans have begun wondering "What will Link look like in the next game?" since Phantom Hourglass held the same design from Wind Waker, being a sequel of said game. Given that Nintendo is keeping the looks of the new Zelda (As it's confirmed there's another one coming) a tight secret despite it having supposedly been in production for a while, I find it interesting to see what people think the new Zelda is gonna be like and see their interpretations and ideas. So here's the deal...





The contest's objective is the following: "Design a new Link and/or Zelda for a new game".

Give Link/Zelda'sdesign/garb a new spin!

It can be in any style you want, futuristic, medieval, the same as all the games but with a new innovative look, anything you want. It can be in any style and with any designs you want but please bear in mind to keep the garb's main color green (it can include other colors besides green too), as it's his trademark color. The Master Sword must be featured in some way. Be it subtly or obvious, it's your choice but it must be within the picture. You can also redesign the Master Sword if it would fit your design better, but retain it's characteristics (Silver and indigo colors, triforce engraving etc...)

If you're gonna include or draw Zelda, the same things with Link apply: INNOVATIVE design. It can be based on previous game designs but I want you to give it your own flare and your own original design. Can be medieval, futuristic, etc... Surprise me. Heck you could even combine her Shiekah/Pirate garb and her princess garb or something along those lines...

You can include any extra characters (Redesigned, preferably) but that's up to you (and it'll award you some bonus points).

In the description of your picture, I would please ask you to tell me why you chose that particular design or what you did to come to your final design. I wanna know the backstory and/or symbolisms of your design





The entries will be judged by yours truly and the following will be taken into consideration:

Link's clothes/garb must include GREEN, as it's his trademark color.
The Master Sword must feature as well, either subtly or obvious.
If you choose to include extra characters, they too must be redesigned.
Please, nothing too showy. Aka, no scantily clad Zelda that it risks exposure of her breasts or other; something more decent please.
BE ORIGINAL. I want you to use that vast imagination of yours. ^^ Try to be as original and innovative as you can, just remember, you CAN be original or innovative even basing yourself on preexisting designs
Do not copy other people. Coincidences are of course excused, but I don't want copying attempts.
Must be fully colored, NO SKETCHES ONLY.
You must post the backstory of your design in your description: Why you chose that design, what it symbolizes to you, etc...
You can submit more than one entry but only one is eligible to win.

I will not judge on skill, but on originality, effort, and how much your design appeals to me.



Deadline is AUGUST 15, 2008. Extensions might be considered depending on the circumstances but I think there's enough time

There'll be two rounds, the first round will be of 10 finalists and will be chosen on August 18, and I'll judge from there and choose 3 entries, hopefully having results up by August 20. The prizes for those three entries will be as follows:

FIRST PLACE:

I'll draw your design to the best of my ability and link to your page and put that drawing of your redesign as my featured work for a month.
I'll feature your winning entry and your icon on my journal for a month long.
Free commision of the Small-Colored Type of anything you want, two chars max
- Rules of comissions applying of course-.

SECOND PLACE:

I'll draw your redesign to the best of my ability and feature your winning entry in my journal for a month.
A Colored sketch commision, two chars max.

THIRD PLACE:

I'll draw your design to the best of my ability and feature your winning entry in my journal for a month.
An animated Icon commision.
